Sometimes dubbed “Superstorm Sandy” or the “Frankenstorm,” Hurricane Sandy was the deadliest and most destructive hurricane of the 2012 hurricane season. The storm impacted half the states in the Union, but New Jersey and New York took the brunt of the storm. The day after the storm, about 6 million customers were without power in 15 states.
