6. Bruce Nuclear Generating Station (6.81 GW)

Built in phases from 1970 to 1987, the Bruce Nuclear Generating Station won approval in May 2013 to bring all its 8 nuclear reactors back online following an extensive refurbishment (click here to read that story). The plant uses the CANDU reactor, which is a pressurized heavy water reactor developed in Canada. The CANDU reactor can generate power from used fuel from light-water reactors.
