6. Jersey Central Power & Light 98 MW (Annual capacity in megawatts)

In 2009, JCP&L, a unit of FirstEnergy Corp., enacted a plan to develop some 43 MW of solar energy. The program established long-term agreements to purchase and sell solar renewable energy certificates to provide a stable basis for financing solar generation projects in the company’s service area.
