Canby Utility deploys Itron meters in Washington

Liberty Lake, Wash., January 6, 2010 — Itron is delivering Flostar meters to Canby Utility, including Itron’s integrated meter module, the 80W-i.

Canby Utility will use the integrated solution to improve its water and electric service to over 15,000 people in Canby, Ore., 18 miles south of Portland.

To date Canby has deployed about 1,000 active Flostar water meters for automated meter reading.

In the future, its plans include replacing all of its 4,700 residential and commercial water meters with Flostar meters and integrated 80W-i modules. Canby also plans to replace all of its 6,700 electricity meters with Itron Centron meters.

The meter’s low-friction design decreases internal wear, and its wire-free integration with the 80W-i meter module provides greater operational reliability over the unit’s life cycle.

The 80W-I module is part of the ChoiceConnect meter data collection suite from Itron, and can be read by the utility’s meter reading system alongside CENTRON electricity meters.

Itron Inc. works with nearly 8,000 utilities worldwide to optimize the delivery and use of energy and water. The company’s products include electricity, gas, water and heat meters, data collection and communication systems, including automated meter reading (AMR) and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI); meter data management and related software applications; as well as project management, installation, and consulting services.
