DNV Kema joins Zigbee Alliance

DNV Kema Energy & Sustainability joined the ZigBee Alliance as a Participant Member. The ZigBee Alliance is an open, non-profit, global ecosystem of organizations creating wireless solutions for use in energy management, commercial and consumer applications.

ZigBee Smart Energy is a standard for interoperable products that monitor, control, inform and automate the delivery and use of energy and water. By joining the ZigBee Alliance, DNV Kema aims to extend its diverse portfolio of global smart metering services and bring its wide-ranging testing expertise into the ZigBee domain.

As part of the ZigBee Alliance, DNV Kema will focus particularly on ZigBee Smart Energy. This Smart Energy standard is designed to help utilities and governments deploy smart grid solutions that are secure, easy to install and that empower consumers to better manage their energy consumption.

DNV Kema will bring together its smart metering and testing experience to provide solutions as part of its contribution to a smart energy future, and to support developments such as the U.K.’s deployment of a complex smart metering architecture, where ZigBee is a key part of the specification.
