GridWise Alliance comments on presidential budget

Washington, D.C., February 2, 2010 — The following is a statement from Katherine Hamilton, the president of GridWise Alliance, on the smart grid provisions in the president’s budget outline:

“The president’s budget is the best budget document from a smart grid perspective that we’ve ever seen. Today the White House announced a beefed up budget for smart grid, which will allow the Department of Energy to increase its staffing to ensure that recovery projects are carried out successfully. The $40 million slated for the Office of Electricity is a 30 percent increase and is a 300 percent increase for energy storage, one of the key components of a smarter grid.”

Katherine Hamilton, President of the GridWise Alliance, and Guido Bartels, Chairman of the GridWise Alliance, are among Greentech Media’s list of 100 people who are influencing this market on a daily basis, be it through innovating, regulating, evangelizing, planning, deploying, benchmarking, architecting, standardizing, investing, developing, etc.
