Atlanta, January 26, 2012 – Metadigm Services, a utility services company specializing in Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) services to utilities, announces MetaRead, a revolutionary new software application that transforms traditional meter reading and guarantees 100 percent accurate billing and meter data.
Capturing meter reads with digital photos adds not only an additional level of data verification, but also accountability and security that will help detect and prevent power fraud, Metadigm officials said in a press conference at DistribuTECH 2012 in San Antonio.
“Today, for every 1 million meters read, we discover 13,000 errors, which adds up to an estimated 2 million erroneous reads every month. This could result in a significant loss of revenue and/or additional labor costs for the utility,” said Metadigm CEO Robert Shively. “MetaRead is an engineered solution that can completely eliminate meter data misreads and the need for site re-visits.”
Meter data are captured with digital photos on handhelds in the field, and then sent to a secure web portal, where a process of tight-filtering, advanced algorithms are deployed to verify the meter data. The digital photos are used as an additional verification step as needed. This process identifies and corrects any erroneous meter reads, and then delivers 100 percent accurate billing records to the utility and the end consumer.
“MetaRead is revolutionizing the oldest service in the utility industry. Capturing meter reads with digital photos adds not only an additional level of data verification, but also accountability and security that will help detect and prevent power fraud,” said Shively.
Metadigm Services has been an innovator in metering, SCADA and communications services and products for the electric utility industry since 1990. Metadigm is the combination of former companies Specialized Technical Services, LepService, and Power Engineering Associates.
Metadigm services will be displaying and demonstrating their products and services at DistribuTECH 2012 in San Antonio, Texas at booth #2134.
