Mexico’s state-owned utility CFE picks Elster for metering project

Comision Federal de Electricidad de Mexico (CFE) has selected Elster electronic meters for their commercial and industrial (C&I) customers in 2013. With more than 35 million end customers, CFE is the state-owned utility operated by the government of Mexico.

CFE will deploy Elster’s A3 ALPHA meter to respond to the growing demand from commercial and industrial facilities for high quality metering data. The initial phase of the Elster A3 ALPHA meter deployment will include more than 28,000 C&I customers throughout the country.

This will enable the utility to collect accurate and reliable data, improve billing calculations and efficiency, and help their business customers to become more savvy consumers of electric energy.

This contract award followed an exhaustive government tender process, which included in depth evaluation of functionality, price, warranty and standards compliance.
