Smart grid provider Cognera Corp., opens U.S. office

Seattle, September 13, 2010 – Cognera Corp., a billing and customer care solutions provider that offers a range of smart grid preparatory technologies for utilities, opened a U.S. office in Seattle.

The company will be providing billing and IT solutions focused on helping utilities meet the increasing demands of smart grid.

“We are excited to be establishing a home base for Cognera in the US market. In bringing our extensive history and knowledge of complex billing and rate structuring to the U.S. market, our mission is to help utilities define and execute complex rates, increase transparency of their billing and meet customer needs,” said Rod Neumann, President and CEO of Cognera Corp.

The company addresses two distinct needs of IOUs and municipal utilities. For large IOUs, their complex billing solution is well proven to manage hierarchical billing structures and multiple rates that are increasingly common with new dynamic pricing models.

For municipal utilities and coops, Cognera’s “Managed Services” billing and customer care solution enables these utilities to meet increasing customer and industry demand for improved technology without large upfront investment and without the need to overhaul legacy IT investments.

Cognera’s U.S. office is located at: 1700 Seventh Avenue, Suite 2100 PMB # 241, Seattle, Wash. 98101

Cognera provides complex billing solutions to help utilities of all sizes meet smart grid requirements and improve business operations. They offer C&I solutions to large IOUs leveraging their history and platform capabilities. For small to midsized utilities, they offer quick and cost effective solutions for meeting today’s demand for smart grid ready technology.
