UL certifies Landis+Gyr advanced residential meters

Landis+Gyr announced its residential line of E330 FOCUS AX and E350 FOCUS AX-SD meters have completed UL 2735 certification from Underwriter Laboratories. The certification relates to a voluntary safety standard adopted in early 2014 that validates product design and test procedures for advanced meter production.

The initial certification from UL applies to these Landis+Gyr meters with integrated RF communications for use in AMI networks. Certified meters include those paired with communication modules from Landis+Gyr, as well as other network vendors.

Combined, the modules represented in this certification cover more than half the market for RF mesh networks deployed in North America during 2015.

Landis+Gyr’s enhanced FOCUS AXe and S4x commercial meters are scheduled to complete certification next year.

The UL 2735 certification is based on UL’s Standard for Safety for Electric Utility Meters, which includes requirements for electric shock, fire, mechanical and RF emissions testing to certify compliance.

The certification provides third-party assurance that electrical meters, and associated communication components, are designed for safe operation.

Landis+Gyr meters are used in many of the largest advanced metering and smart grid projects in the world.
