700,000 without electric power in Michigan, Illinois, Midwest

Power utilities are listing some 700,000 electric power customers still living with power outages November 18 following severe thunderstorms November 17.

In Michigan alone more than 540,000 are living with a blackout. Detroit-based DTE Energy reports 275,000 without power. Michigan-based CMS Energy has reported 232,100 without power. American Electric Power (AEP) Michigan reports 36,300 customers affected by the blackout.

Other affected states include Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Missouri, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

In Illinois, Exelon said 15,000 of its customers are in a blackout. Ameren Illinois reports 28,000 without power.

In Indiana, Duke Energy reports 25,600 without power. AEP’s Indiana unit said 25,100 have no access to electricity. NiSource Inc., based in Merrillville, Indiana, has 11,500 customers without power.
