Areva T&D to offer 1,200 kV ultra high voltage tech to India substation project

Paris, July 26, 2011 – Areva T&D India Ltd. said its transmission business, a part of Alstom Grid, had entered into a memorandum of understanding with Power Grid Corp. of India Ltd., or PGCIL, to provide ultra high voltage technology for PGCIL’s upcoming 1,200kV UHVAC national test station at Bina in Madhya Pradesh.

PGCIL’s 1,200kV ultra high voltage AC transmission system at Bina will facilitate field-testing of equipment before deploying the technology for commercial purposes.

As per the MOU, Areva T&D India will provide 1,200 kV capacitor voltage transformer, disconnections and digital current transformers. All these products have been developed, manufactured and tested at Areva T&D India’s factories at Hosur and Padappai near Chennai.
