Auction to inject $2.6 billion into Brazil transmission sector

Energy developers will invest $2.6 billion in projects offered at Brazil‘s next transmission auction in November, according to local sector regulator Aneel.

The round will offer nine concession lots, with 2,820 miles of transmission lines and 8.76 GVA of transforming capacity, Aneel said in a statement.

Thirty-year contracts will be awarded to consortiums offering the lowest annual revenue, capped at $303 million.

Projects are located in the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Paràƒ¡, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiàƒ¡s, Tocantins and Amapàƒ¡.

Developers will have up to 42 months to begin commercial operations after concession contracts are signed.

The round will be held at the BM&FBOVESPA headquarters in Sàƒ£o Paulo on November 18.

Earlier this month, Aneel said another transmission auction — involving 42 projects — was scheduled for December 19.
