DistribuTECH draws record attendance in San Antonio

Tulsa, OK, February 7, 2012 — DistribuTECH 2012, North America’s largest transmission and distribution event, saw a record attendance of more than 8,600 industry professionals in 2012.

Held January 24-26 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas, DistribuTECH experienced substantial growth for the third consecutive year, further solidifying DistribuTECH’s reputation as the leading information provider and networking platform for the advancement of the smart grid industry.

Co-located with DistribuTECH for the fourth year, Utility Products Conference & Exposition took place simultaneously, drawing utility professionals from across the U.S. for three days of technology demonstrations, educational sessions and business development.

“We are proud of the great success we experienced last week in San Antonio with these two events,” said Mr. Michael Grossman, Vice President of PennWell’s Transmission and Distribution Group. “DistribuTECH and Utility Products Conference & Exposition are important platforms for industry leaders from around the world to come together to exchange information, present new solutions and discuss future developments and challenges most critical to the growth of the industry.”

Held over three days, the conference programs of the two events were comprised of 14 tracks, over 78 sessions and 350 speakers. Collectively, they provided thousands of conference delegates with comprehensive insight into a mix of strategic and technological energy issues ranging from SCADA and network infrastructure to advanced metering and distribution automation to smart grid operations solutions. The exhibition featured more than 400 companies from around the world showcasing the latest developments in technology, hardware, software and services.

Expanding on the success of DistribuTECH and Utility Products Conference & Exposition, the franchise announced the launch of DistribuTECH Brasil to be held September 25-27, 2012 at the Riocentro Convention Center in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. LIGHT, the public utility of Rio de Janeiro, confirmed their support as the Host Utility of the event.

DistribuTECH Brasil will be co-located with HydroVision Brasil, an event focused on advancing the development of hydroelectric power generation in Latin America. The co-location of the events provide a unique and unprecedented platform for the coverage of a broad range of topics and technologies impacting the Latin American region.

“We are very excited about the expansion of the DistribuTECH brand into Latin America. LIGHT’s support of the event as the Host Utility for both DistribuTECH Brasil and HydroVision Brasil demonstrates that the combination of these two events is the right solution to attract professionals from around the world and across all segments of the market,” said Grossman. “As demand for power increases in Latin America, the topics to be discussed at these two events truly represent the future of energy.”
