DNV Kema expands energy storage capabilities

DNV Kema Energy & Sustainability launched a customized energy storage valuation service tailored to utilities’ growing need to assess storage applications on their system.

The services, available immediately, are designed to address the needs generated by actions such as the September 3 preliminary ruling by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), which set a January 2014 deadline for investor owned utilities in the state to submit plans outlining their energy storage resources.

The service is possible due to innovative analytics tools including ES-GRID, which debuted in 2013 as a purpose-built modeling tool used by the CPUC as input in its effort to establish reliable and detailed economics for energy storage. Other tools include ES-Select, KERMIT and Microgrid Optimizer.
