EEI says Cheney report encouraging

“This report will encourage the discussion of all energy issues on Capitol Hill and provoke a timely response to the nation’s energy challenges,” said EEI President Thomas R. Kuhn. “We support many conclusions of the task force, such as the need to ease regulatory barriers to building power plants and transmission lines, to streamline the relicensing process for certain types of power plants, and to increase our supply of power from our neighbors in Canada and Mexico.”

KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 18, 2001 – UtiliCorp United has adequate generation capacity and purchased power contracts in place to ensure energy reliability this summer for its 409,000 electric utility customers in three states, a company official said.
