EEI study forecasts need for $56 billion of transmission capacity

HOUSTON, July 13, 2001 — Nearly $56 billion in new capacity is needed in the next 10 years to maintain US transmission adequacy at its current level, but only about $35 billion is planned, an electric industry group said.

AUSTIN, Texas, July 11, 2001 — American Electric Power has named Julio Reyes as its new Texas state president. Reyes fills the vacancy created when Alphonso Jackson became Deputy Secretary of Housing and Urban Development in the Bush administration.
