Efacec USA to supply transformers to Westinghouse

Pittsburgh, Sept 1, 2011 — Efacec USA, Inc. has been awarded a multi-million dollar order from Westinghouse Electric Co., LLC for 20 unit transformers to be manufactured by Efacec Power Transformers, Inc. at its facility located in Rincon, Georgia.

The transformers will become part of the first new nuclear units to be constructed in the United States in more than 25 years.

Westinghouse, together with its consortium partner The Shaw Group, Inc., will supply and construct 4 AP1000 Nuclear Reactors, two each at the SCANA VC Summer plant in Jenkinsville, South Carolina, and at the Southern Company Vogtle plant near Waynesboro, Georgia. The Shaw Group will be responsible for the new construction at both sites.

The transformers are being designed, built and tested at Efacec’s new manufacturing plant in Georgia.
