Eight utilities seeking participation in Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator

Indianapolis Power and Light Co. (IPL), Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA), Lincoln (Neb.) Electric System, Minnesota Power, Otter Tail Power Co., Sunflower Electric Power Corp. and UtiliCorp United applied for membership in the MISO on Wednesday. Another, Manitoba Hydro, intends to participate through a coordination agreement.

March 1, 2001 – In the aftermath of a 6.8 magnitude quake that rocked Seattle Wednesday, most area utilities reported that power was back on by midnight at the latest.
