September 11, 2012 — Ezra Holdings’ subsea construction division, EMAS AMC, won a contract by ABB, pursuant to an arrangement of strategic cooperation for subsea installation, for the installation of subsea power cables.
The Troll A concrete deepwater structure is a natural gas production platform at 473 meters high and weighing 1.2 million tons. The platform can produce as much as 120 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.
The scope of work for EMAS AMC is to install one HVAC subsea cable and two circuits of HVDC subsea cables from Troll A to the land station, Kollsnes.
The platform has received power from shore since 2005. The increase in power provided by the new cables will provide power to run two compressor drive systems, which will improve production capacity and extend the lifespan of the platform.
Cable installation operations will be performed during the second quarter of 2014, using EMAS AMC’s Lewek Connector (formerly named AMC Connector), currently the world’s largest cable installation vessel in terms of size and payload capacity.
EMAS AMC currently has a long-term agreement with ABB for Lewek Connector in connection with the installation of power cables and related services.
