Industry leaders enhance customer experience with GIS solutions

Chicago, April 2, 2003 — Navigation Technologies, a provider of digital maps for vehicle navigation, Internet / wireless applications and business solutions, and ESRI, a provider of geographic information system (GIS) software, have signed a reseller agreement to make NAVTECH® digital map data available directly to ESRI customers. The key benefit to ESRI customers is a simplified process for purchasing and accessing NAVTECH map data.

This agreement reflects both organizations’ commitment to providing customers with the industry’s highest quality products and services. Through this arrangement, NAVTECH digital map data is available for integration into ESRI’s Route Server for ArcIMS application as well as other ESRI GIS solutions.

The results for ESRI customers: a streamlined purchase process and improved overall customer experience. As industry leaders, ESRI and Navigation Technologies support many of the same customers in both the government and commercial markets making this reseller agreement beneficial for all customers interested in utilizing NAVTECH digital map data within ESRI applications.

NAVTECH digital map data offers ESRI customers the accuracy and precision to meet their routing, logistics and overall GIS requirements. Navigation Technologies employs one of the industry’s most comprehensive database development and quality control programs, executed by a team of more than 400 field analysts.

These field analysts actually drive the roads, verifying and updating information for the NAVTECH database. Navigation Technologies’ coverage spans the globe, including 37 countries on four continents. NAVTECH maps are infused with more than 150 attributes such as turn restrictions, dividers and barriers and one-way streets, making it some of the richest map data available for routing, fleet management and logistics solutions.

“Through this agreement, ESRI and Navigation Technologies will be able to provide GIS users with an easy way to procure software and data that meets their needs,” said Jack Dangermond, ESRI President. “Navigation Technologies provides quality map data that enables users to develop strong applications.”

“We are excited about this arrangement and feel it offers great opportunity for both ESRI and its customers.
