Letter from 28 companies to Reid and McConnell on transmission issues

Washington, D.C., February 10, 2010 — A group of electric utilities, industrial and commercial customers and a solar energy company sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Reid and Minority Leader McConnell expressing their views and concerns with legislation impacting electric transmission.

The group’s members included including investor-owned utilities, government-owned utilities, irrigation district and rural electric cooperatives.

The letter addressed the transmission provisions of S. 1462, the American Clean Energy Leadership Act of 2009, as reported by the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

The 28 entities that co-signed the letter serve more than 24 percent of all retail electric consumers in the United States, and deliver over 28 percent of all electricity used by the nation’s retail electric consumers.
