Montana Power reaches agreement ending industrial energy supply contract

The agreement involves a one-time payment by Montana Power of $62.5 million to ASiMI and ends, as of June 30, the power supply contract that was in effect until yearend 2002. This transaction is another step forward as Montana Power exits the energy business and completes its transition to a stand-alone telecommunications company, TOUCHAMERICA.

WASHINGTON, June 26, 2001 — The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) Chief Executive Officer Glenn English today called for the development of a fully interconnected national grid for the transmission of electricity.
