North American electric utilities rank SEL No. 1 relay manufacturer

Pullman, Wash. — August 21, 2009 — North American electric utilities ranked Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. (SEL) as the number one relay manufacturer in the latest survey conducted by the Newton-Evans Research Company, Inc.

“The Worldwide Study of the Protective Relay Marketplace in Electric Utilities: 2009–2011 – Volume 1: North American Market” surveyed utility protection and control engineers and engineering managers from 99 utilities.
Utilities chose SEL as the number one manufacturer in all eight categories: technology, price, flexibility to add new features, technical service and support, security against hackers, ease of use/relay setup, maintenance cost, and web information.

Customers ranked SEL number one in combined customer experience by a large margin over its nearest competitor, a trend continued from previous Newton-Evans reports.
