Ohio PUC approves AES purchase of DP&L

Arlington, Va., November 22, 2011 — The AES Corp. won approval from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio for its acquisition of DPL Inc. The companies filed their merger application with the PUCO on May 18, 2011, and filed a settlement agreement with all parties to the application on October 26, 2011.

The merger application and settlement were supported by the staff of the PUCO, the city of Dayton, The Ohio Hospital Association, Ohio Partners for Affordable Energy, Industrial Energy-Users-Ohio, OMA Energy Group and the Ohio Energy Group.

The transaction is expected to close as early as November 28, 2011.

AES is a global power company with generation and distribution businesses operating in 27 countries.
