PHI offers blackout help to neighboring utilities following nor’easter

Washington, D.C., October 31, 2011 — Pepco Holdings sent a large contingent of personnel to other utilities to assist in the massive storm restoration effort in the aftermath of the first major winter storm of the season.

PHI has released over 350 overhead line personnel and 200 tree trimmers to support this massive restoration effort.

This weekend’s storm developed into a nor’easter, crippling a large portion of the eastern half of the country with torrential rains, strong winds and heavy, wet snow eventually dropping tree limbs on power lines and causing massive power outages from Maine to Virginia.

PHI field personnel from Pepco, Delmarva Electric and Atlantic City Electric will work with other utilities to restore power to their customers as quickly and safely as possible.

Crews responding to this storm restoration effort include personnel from the following PHI companies: Pepco, Delmarva Electric, and Atlantic City Electric. It is expected that the restoration effort will continue through the middle of the week.
