Reliant Energy expands service to Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland

Houston, August 22, 2011 — Residential electricity customers in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland have a new choice when it comes to buying electricity.

Reliant Energy, an NRG Energy company, is now offering service to consumers in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Depending on the state where they live and their local electric utility, customers who switch to Reliant can save an average of 9 percent and as much as 23 percent on the power supply portion of their bill.

While new to residential customers in the Mid-Atlantic region, Reliant Energy currently serves 1.5 million customers including residential, small business and large commercial customers, primarily in Texas. The company also offers service to large commercial and industrial customers in Delaware, the District of Columbia, New Jersey, Illinois, Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Service from Reliant is available to the majority of customers served by investor-owned utilities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland.
