Erlangen, Germany, September 26, 2012 — Siemens has signed a contract worth with Power Grid Corp. of India to build a 765 kV test laboratory at Bina, Madhya Pradesh for the National High Power Test Laboratory.
The company has bagged this order on a turnkey basis and will be executing the project as an end-to-end solution provider. The contract also covers annual maintenance of this test laboratory for five years. The test lab will put India on the world stage as an important destination for high power testing.
Siemens will be extending to this project some of its highly advanced technologies including 765 kV make switch, control and monitoring system, and associated substations for 765 kV and 400 kV, among others.
The project has been rolled out with immediate effect and is expected to be commissioned in 14 months — by mid of calendar year 2013. The execution consultant of this project is PGCIL, which will be the primary interface for Siemens, with CESI Italy being the Technical Consultant.
NHPTL is a joint venture company formed by NTPC, NHPC, Power Grid, DVC and CPRI and provides On Line High Power Short Circuit Test Facility in India.
