Survalent commissions SCADA for Wasaga Distribution, Ontario

Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, October 30, 2012 — Survalent Technology, the most trusted provider of smart grid solutions for the control room, commissioned a new Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for Wasaga Distribution, Ontario.

Wasaga Distribution, formally known as Wasaga Beach Hydro, serves the town of Wasaga Beach. The present population as provided by the town is over 16,000, with a total service area of 61 square kilometers.

The utility presently serves 12,000 customers and has more than 235 kilometers of conductor, both overhead and underground. The system also has more than 1400 distribution transformers, and nearly 5000 poles in service, fed from five owned, and one shared distribution stations.

The new system features Survalent’s open-architecture system based on Windows Server 2008. It includes several of Survalent’s open system applications, including: WorldView, SCADA Explorer, IED Wizard, Control Panel, Remote Alarm Annunciation, SCADA Add-in for Microsoft Excel and Access and System Configuration Status.
