Transformer ‘Check Engine Light’

Doble Engineering Co.

Doble Engineering Co.’s Delphi Mini is a cost-effective dissolved gas analysis monitor designed as a “check engine light” for transformers. It continuously provides single value readings of hydrogen or composite gas that indicate when intervention is necessary in real time, indicating the need for further testing or more costly monitoring measures. Features include: continuous, online dissolved gas measurement, a key indicator of transformer health; self-monitoring technology that ensures the data provided is valuable and actionable intelligence; and immunity to failure during oil surges, maintenance and other activities as a result of its patented vacuum-resistant membrane.

Grounding Device

Thomas & Betts

The Elastimold Grounding Device (GAD) from Thomas & Betts provides a direct 600A, 25kA-rated connection with a removable protective cap that allows for increased safety in everyday operations. Series GAD and GADDR are designed for standard C-clamp ground connections, and Series BGAD and BGADDR are specially designed for ball-stud ground connections. The Elastimold GAD connects to the rear interfaces of 600A series elbow connectors (T-bodies) to ground the circuit. To remain open, the insulated cap with a capacitive test point assures there is no voltage present. Once the circuit is de-energized, it is grounded through the grounding cable to the system ground. Elastimold GADs comply with the ANSI/IEEE-386-2006 Standard.

Line Monitoring System

GE Digital Energy business has enhanced its Multilin Intelligent Line Monitoring System, an end-to-end overhead line-monitoring solution with advanced analytics that provides actionable intelligence to distribution utilities, improving the reliability and efficiency of power delivery to their customers. Using the system, utilities can reduce outage durations by identifying fault locations, allowing them to dispatch repair crews quickly. Improved dynamic line rating also helps them identify additional available line capacity to maximize their existing infrastructure investment. Upgrades include a new feeder visualizer application, which helps utilities gather data from their networks to identify loading and phase imbalance issues. The improved fault location allows utilities to identify trouble spots and email or text to repair crews, getting them dispatched to limit system interruptions.
