Lowell, Mass., August 2, 2010 – TRC Companies completed a substation engineering project for Florida Keys Electric Co-Op in support of their efforts to upgrade transmission control equipment and prevent power outages and service interruptions to customers.
“We sought an experienced and reputable firm to trust with this project,” said Dennis Minton, FKEC’s Director of Power Supply and Delivery. “TRC achieved the project goals without incident and met all FKEC expectations ahead of schedule and within budget.”
Working closely with FKEC engineers and field personnel, TRC installed a new primary relay protection package for one of FKEC’s radial transmission lines. The replacement was performed within inches of control circuits, requiring personnel to work with extreme precision to avoid causing outages.
“TRC is proud to have played an important role in FKEC’s efforts to ensure continued power reliability for their customers,” said Chris Vincze, TRC’s Chairman and CEO. “We are dedicated to supporting client projects that expand and upgrade our nation’s vital energy facilities, and we are committed to delivering results – in this case scope, schedule and cost efficiencies – our clients can rely on.”
