Tucson Electric Power and Citizens Communications Co. to build transmission line

The project will entail building a transmission line from TEP’s facilities near Tucson to link with the Citizens electric system in Nogales. Additionally, the project could permit extension of the transmission line across the international border to interconnect with Mexico’s electric grid.

WASHINGTON, D.C., Feb. 16, 2001—President Bush has issued a memorandum requesting that federal agencies expedite their end of the siting and operation of power plants in California to ease the energy crisis.
