Two new board appointments for Smarter Grid Solutions

Smarter Grid Solutions announced two new board appointments to support its international growth plans.

John Scott brings exceptional energy industry knowledge and Gerry Docherty has significant commercial experience of growing successful software businesses. Both join as nonexecutive board directors.

Scott has held senior management roles within the energy industry, including director of engineering for National Grid and technical director for Ofgem. He is an international energy industry consultant specializing in helping energy transmission and distribution companies find innovative solutions to connect renewable energy and adapt to the challenges of a low-carbon future. He is a founding member of the Smart Grid Forum, jointly chaired by the U.K. government and energy industry regulator.

Docherty was founding managing director of Real Time Engineering and helped develop the company to become one of Scotland’s largest and most successful ICT organizations. Docherty also has held influential technology market positions including chairman of the ICT Industry Advisory Group for Scottish Enterprise. He has supported and advised a broad range of technology-related, venture capital and private enterprise-funded companies.
