WIRES names new leaders

Don Clevenger, senior vice president, external affairs at Oncor, will serve as president of WIRES for 2013, along with other new leaders who also assume their posts on Jan. 1, 2013. The group was elected by the WIRES membership at its annual meeting in Washington, D.C.

Clevenger will succeed Jolly Hayden, managing director at InfraREIT Capital Partners, LLC, who served as WIRES president for both 2011 and 2012 and was elected at the Washington meeting to serve on the WIRES board of directors.

Other officers for 2013 are:

·      President-elect — Phillip Grigsby, senior vice president, commercial transmission, Duke Energy

·      Vice president — John Flynn, vice president, strategic planning & project development, American Transmission Co.

·      Secretary — Steven Burtch, senior vice president, business development, AltaLink

·      Treasurer — Gary Hickey, executive director, transmission development, NextEra Energy Resources

Elected to continue serving on the board of directors along with Hayden were: Will Kaul vice president, transmission, Great River Energy; Paul D. McCoy, principal, Atlantic Wind Connection; and Autry Warren, vice president, regional customer operations, Oncor Electric Delivery Co.

WIRES (Working group for Investment in Reliable and Economic electric Systems) is a non-profit trade association of investor-, publicly-, and cooperatively owned transmission providers, transmission customers, regional grid managers, and equipment and service companies.

WIRES promotes investment in electric transmission and progressive state and federal policies that advance energy markets, economic efficiency, and consumer and environmental benefits through development of electric power infrastructure.
